I thought it only fitting that since I have wifi access from 30,000
feet on my return to Philly I should post accordingly.

Leaving Saigon

A number of families have stayed at the Grand which dates back to the 30's and Colonial rule. Some of us have managed to gather for dinner recounting the humourous, dramatic, and painfull stories of this AE and those of the past. We talk of what worked, what needs tweaked, but all agree although our plans were fluid and ever changing with bouts of stomach problems, strange rashes, critters running through our rooms at night, we met our goals and more importantly made a difference.......... And with a team made up of diverse skills and talents we  found the best in ourselves to give to others.

Saigon

We have arrived back in Saigon after 7 hours on the bus. We had a lot
of stomach casualties on our journey Back from Rach Gia. Even the
heartiest of the volunteers look exhausted. I'll be catching up with
the last couple days of activites later this evening.

Our first sail goes up

Dwight and I were shuttled into the center of the city in rush hour on
Pham and Hans mopeds to visit a marine hardware. Thrilling ride
doesn't describe our trip adequatly.

Everybody wants to say "Hello"

Building Team

Thought we shpow the world what we built in a
week.......................

Installing the floor

After we install about 6" of clay we arrange granite stones. These
stones are compacted after which we will mix concrete and pour over
these.

This is the family we are building for

Our Bricks arrive at Home Depot (This actually how we get our supplies)

Our kids hosting a market for the Vietnamese Students with our donations

The kids used play money the earned from their grades, good behavior,
and attendence at school)

Our first pole goes up. This will hold three shade sails to alleviate the heat over the playground

Working on the projects

We have had a team leaders succumb to illness and now I am shuttling
between projects. The team is fantastic and there is a sense of
accomplishment by all. We have one more work day and have to have our
playground complete by noon to make way for a Khmer New Years
celebration! (Dorothy, Maia, and Liam Happy New Years) Many of the
schools students are Cambodian. And the Cambodian community is
hosting a celebration at the school.

They want to have a ribbon cutting of our new playground with all of
our tension structures up and playground equipment assembled. What's
great is our projects as well as the medical team are all walking
distance from one another. We are able to visit each and get more of
a sense of the community and people. We have a lot of work and little
time today.

Our house takes shape

We have take the walls up to the top of the windows. We have
installed the reinforcing for the lintel and bond beam to span over
these areas tying the building together.

The play ground work at the school takes shape

The concrete pouring is well underway. I have just ordered 5 meter
steel columns to hold our shade sales.

The School playground work moves ahead

At the playground we have began pouring concrete Although it would
not make sense to us the school wants concrete as the base for the
playground due to the rain and poor drainage the grass does not allow
for year round use.

The walls are getting higher.
